NUFH takes down Maine 6-3

The six goals scored are the most by a Husky offense against Maine in program history

ORONO, Maine  –  The Northeastern field hockey team headed to Orono and came away with a 6-3 victory over Maine on Friday afternoon thanks to a six-point afternoon from Lauren Rowe. The six goals scored against the Black Bears were the most ever by a Husky offense. 
 
With the win, the Huskies (4-2) also snapped a six-game losing streak to Maine (1-5). 
 
Lauren Rowe finished with her second 5+ point game of the season finishing with two goals and two assists in the victory for the Huskies. Kasidy Anderson added a goal and assist in the win while Julia Gluyas finished with six saves and Erin Savage, in her first action of 2019, made a save. 
 
The Huskies got out to a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of action as Rowe put back a point-blank shot to give the Huskies the early lead in the first quarter.
 
The Black Bears evened the score in the second quarter but before the end of the half was up the Huskies made it a 2-1 game as Lexie Dunleavy put in her second goal of the season. 
 
Maine made it two-all early in the second half, but less than a minute later, Rowe netted her second goal of the game, and seventh of the season, to put the Huskies back on top with some help from Anderson. Melanie Weber made it a two-goal game a few minutes later with some assistance from Alli Meehan and Camille O'Conor put the Huskies up by three before the end of the quarter. 
 
The Black Bears were on a mission to start the fourth quarter netting one just over a minute into the frame but Anderson got it back five minutes later with yet another helper coming from Lauren Rowe to give the Huskies a 6-3 advantage that the hung on to the finish.
