Northeastern will take on No. 23 Fairfield and No. 21 Wake Forest this weekend

BOSTON– The Northeastern field hockey team is headed out on a two-game road trip where they will face a couple of ranked opponents in No. 23 Fairfield and No. 21 Wake Forest this weekend.
 
Friday afternoon's game against the Stags will kick off at 4 p.m. and can be found herewhile Sunday afternoon's meeting in Winston-Salem is an ACC Network Xtra and can be found here
 
 
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
 
  1. Taking a look at the competition
 
HUSKIES VS. FAIRFIELD
  • Northeastern and Fairfield will meet for the first time since the 2002 season on Friday afternoon
  • The two teams have met three times in the past with Northeastern winning on all three occasions, in fact Fairfield hasn't ever scored a goal against the Huskies

  • The Stags are ranked for the first time since September 11, 2012, when they also stood 23rd in the nation after the team opened the year with a 4-2 record
  • This season they are off to a 7-1 start
  • After falling 3-0 to UMass-Lowell in the season opener, Fairfield has rallied off seven-straight wins heading into Friday's game
 
DEACS AND DOGS
  • The Huskies and Demon Deacons have also met three times in the past, and Wake Forest has the upper hand winning all three of those instances
  • This year's contest will mark the third time in the last four seasons the two teams will meet and the first time on the campus of Wake Forest

  • The Huskies started off the three-game week with a 7-0 victory over Merrimack on Wednesday night 
  • Lauren Rowe picked up her second hat trick of the season just a few minutes into the second half netting her first two goals in the first half while her third goal came on a penalty stroke in the 32nd minute
  • Alli Meehan, Kasidy Anderson, Lauren Brewster and Kelsie Stephenson also added goals in the victory
