Huskies Take on Delaware in CAA Semifinals

BOSTON – The Northeastern field hockey team (5-13, 3-3 CAA) will head to Newark, Del., for the CAA Championships starting this Friday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m., with the games streaming on FloSports. The No. 3 seed Huskies will take on the No. 2 seed and hosts Delaware (7-11, 5-1 CAA) in the semifinal round.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  • Back at the Championships: The Huskies are back at the CAA Championships for the fifth consecutive season (not including the shortened COVID season). Northeastern is making its tenth appearance in the tournament since joining the CAA in 2005. The Huskies have reached the championship game five times but have not gotten over the edge.
  • We Meet Again: The Huskies and the Blue Hens met earlier this season on the same field. Northeastern got out to a 2-0 first quarter lead and held it into the halftime break. Delaware would score a goal in the third and an equalizer with just 42 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime, before earning the win in penalty strokes.
  • The History: The all-time series is tied 17-17 dating back to the first meeting in 1991, but the Blue Hens have won the previous 12 meetings, with the last Northeastern win being in 2012.

With a win, the Huskies will have an opportunity to compete for the CAA Championship on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m., against the winner of the No. 1 seed Monmouth and No. 4 seed Drexel.
