RICHMOND, Va. – Erica Staunton, Nailah Jenkins, and Kayla Martin of the Northeastern volleyball team earned CAA Preseason honors, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Staunton was tabbed to the Preseason Team, and Jenkins and Martin were named Honorable Mentions.
 
Staunton, a senior from Orland Park, Illinois, led the Huskies in 2021 with 246 kills, averaging 3.15 per set. Staunton also tallied double-digit kills in 12 matches, highlighted by a career-high 21-kill performance vs. Elon on October 23. The senior closed her 2021 campaign tallying 16 kills in the CAA Tournament Quarterfinal against Delaware, and was tabbed to the All-CAA Second Team.
 
Jenkins, a senior from Atlanta, Georgia, finished second on the Huskies in 2021 with 193 kills, averaging 2.2 per set. Jenkins also notched double-digit kills in 10 matches, and finished the 2021 season second on the squad with 69 blocks. The senior also finished second on the team with 25 service aces, and garnered All-CAA Second Team accolades.
 
Martin, a senior from Prosper, Texas, led Northeastern with 400 digs, averaging 4.1 per set in 2021. Martin was stellar all season for the Huskies on defense, tallying double-digit digs in 23 matches, and also was an integral piece from the service line, notching a team-high 26 aces.
 
The Huskies open their season at the Northwestern Tournament on August 26.
