BOSTON – The Northeastern volleyball team is set to continue non-conference play, hosting a home tournament on Friday, September 9 through Saturday, September 10. The Huskies will take on Georgia on Friday in their home opener at 5 pm, then will take on Iona at 10:30 am and Utah Valley at 4 pm on Saturday.
Parking for fans attending this weekend is available in Columbus Garage (210 Columbus Ave), an hour and a half prior to each match. Home matches for Northeastern are held in the Cabot Center (400 Huntington Ave), and the gym can be accessed from the entrance facing Huntington Ave.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- Tournament Matchups: Northeastern's home tournament will begin on Friday with Georgia taking on Iona at 12:30 pm, followed by the Huskies facing Georgia at 5 pm. The Huskies will then play the two matches on Saturday with Iona at 10:30 am, followed by Utah Valley at 4 pm.
- CAA Honors: Senior libero Kayla Martin was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week on September 5. Martin had a stellar week defensively for the Huskies at the Duke Invitational, leading the back line averaging 5.83 digs per set to help Northeastern to a 2-1 weekend. The senior notched 70 total digs, including double-figures in all three matches.
- Home Sweet Home: The Huskies have had a winning record at home since 2015. Last season, Northeastern finished the season with a 7-5 record on Solomon Court.
After hosting the Northeastern Tournament, the Huskies will begin CAA play on the road at Delaware on Saturday, September 17 through Sunday, September 18.
