Mike Glavine Named ABCA/ATEC Regional Coach of the Year

BOSTON - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and ATEC announced their 2023 Regional Coaches of the Year in all collegiate and high school divisions, with Northeastern's Mike Glavine being named the Northeast Region Coach of the Year.

Glavine's Huskies completed one of the most record-setting seasons in Northeastern Baseball history in 2023, going 44-16 with an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies had their winningest season in program history, earning the program's first ever Top-25 ranking from D1Baseball.com, and breaking several team and individual offensive records, including wins, home runs (106), runs scored (459), hits (614), batting average (tied, .295), slugging % (.510), on-base % (.395), and walks (226). Glavine coached a total of three All-Region players, seven All-New England selections, nine All-CAA selections including the Rookie of the Year (Cam Maldonado) and Defensive Player of the Year (Spenser Smith), and saw three of his players earn All-American status this season: Mike Sirota (ABCA/Rawlings, Third Team), Aiven Cabral (NCBWA, Freshman) and Cam Maldonado (Collegiate Baseball, Freshman)

Along with this honor, Glavine was named the 2023 CAA Coach of the Year, the fourth nod from the conference in his career, and the 2023 ECAC Coach of the Year. This is Glavine's second Regional Coach of the Year award, earning the same honor in 2018. Under Glavine, the Huskies have now received two at-large bids to the NCAA tournament, and three of the program's 10 bids overall.
