BOSTON – The Northeastern volleyball team (4-4) is set to open CAA play on the road this weekend, taking on Stony Brook (4-6) on Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17. Both matches are slated to begin at 1 p.m., and will stream on FloVolleyball.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- W(RECK)ING HAVOC AGAIN - For the second straight week, Abby Reck was tabbed CAA Rookie of the Week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon. Reck garnered all-tournament honors at the Northeastern Invitational after tallying 29 kills, averaging 4.14 per set on a .387 hitting percentage in a weekend split for the Huskies. Reck had her best collegiate performance so far with career highs of 20 kills on a .436 hitting percentage, with four digs and three blocks to lead Northeastern to a four-set victory over the back-to-back Big Sky Champions in Northern Colorado. Reck then closed the weekend with nine kills on .304 hitting against Northwestern.
- LAST TIME OUT VS. STONY BROOK – The Huskies completed the weekend sweep over the Seawolves in 2022, knocking off Stony Brook in four sets and five sets. In the five-set win, Jessica Frannea tallied her 1,000th career assist, and finished with a career-high 58 assists and 11 digs, her fifth double-double of the season.
- GACUTAN CONTINUES TO SHINE – Pono Gacutan continues to be strong on defense and the service line for the Huskies. Gacutan leads the Huskies with 90 digs and had a stellar match vs. Northern Colorado with a career-high 24 digs, and five service aces.
After Stony Brook, the Huskies will host Hofstra the weekend of September 23-24. Both matches are slated for 2 p.m., and will stream on FloVolleyball.
