WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Northeastern field hockey team (4-3, 0-0 CAA) opens up conference play Friday afternoon with a matchup against William & Mary at Busch Field at 2 p.m. before traveling to Virginia Commonwealth Sunday, Sept. 24 at Cary Street Field at 1 p.m. The matchup with William & Mary will be streamed on FloSports and the game against VCU is available on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- THE CAA WAY — The Huskies begin CAA play for the first time this weekend, looking to be one of four teams to make the conference tournament in November. Northeastern has celebrated plenty of regular season success in the conference, earning a spot in the postseason field each of the last five full seasons. Last year, the Huskies finished fourth in the CAA with a 3-3 conference record.
- A FAMILIAR FACE IN THE TRIBE — Northeastern and William & Mary have met 24 times in the programs' history, with the Huskies owning the series lead 13-11. Last year, the Huskies took down the 25th-ranked Tribe 5-1 with goals from sophomore Emmy Stubbs (2), junior Maria Armaganian, sophomore Anna-Kate Domingue and sophomore Emilia Adragna.
- FROM ONE COMMONWEALTH TO ANOTHER — The Huskies match up with former CAA opponent VCU for the first time since the Rams were a part of the conference in 2012. The six matchups between the two almost always went the way of the Huskies, who are 5-1 all-time against the Rams.
The road trip continues after this weekend, as the Huskies travel to Towson Friday, Sept. 29 and then to crosstown rival Boston University Sunday, Oct. 1. The Towson matchup can be streamed on FloSports and the game against the Terriers will be on ESPN+.
