THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- CAN BU-LIEVE IT?! — The Huskies took care of business on Sunday, defeating in-city rival Boston University 4-2. It was the first win against the Terriers under head coach Pam Spuehler and the first against her alma mater. The game saw multiple firsts, as junior Emilia Adragna scored the opening goal for her first of the season and added a second goal later in the contest. Senior Lara Taylor also recorded two goals, the first time in her career at Northeastern. Her efforts awarded her the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, making it her first of this season.
- THE HUSKS ARE ROLLING! — The Northeastern field hockey team extended its winning streak to five games, the longest in a season since 2014 when they ran up 11 straight wins en route to the CAA Regular Season Championship. In the five-game stretch, the Huskies scored 20 goals, more than any other CAA team in that span, and outscored their opponents by two or more goals in four of the five matchups. Graduate student captain Lauren Rowe garnered 16 points in the winning streak, followed by graduate student Mak Graves, junior Emmy Stubbs, and Taylor with eight points each.
- SCOUTING THE BLUE HENS & BLACK BEARS — Friday's contest will be the 37th matchup between Delaware and Northeastern, with the series tied at 18-18-0. The Blue Hens currently sit in 2nd of the CAA Field Hockey Standings and are coming off a 2-1 OT defeat to No. 15 Princeton. The Huskies took a 2-1 victory in last year's game, where sophomore Alex Mega scored the game-winning goal early in the fourth quarter at Dedham. Sunday's contest with the Black Bears will be the 40th between both teams, with Northeastern holding a 26-12-1 series advantage. The Huskies also took a 2-1 victory in last year's contest, with Rowe scoring the game-winner in Orono, Maine.
Northeastern concludes its homestand following this weekend. The Huskies take on the Monmouth Hawks on Friday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. for the final home game of the regular season, as well as its DEI game. The game can be streamed on FloSports.
