Abigail Hassman became the first women's runner in CAA history to win three individual championships, finishing in first with a time of 20:08.1 on the 6K course to lead the women to their first-ever team championship, while senior
Ben Godish picked up his second-straight CAA Championship win with a time of 24:11.4, helping the men take second-place at Elon Phoenix Cross Country Course Friday morning.
WOMEN
- Hassman win on Friday is the third straight as a Husky. She remains the only Northeastern runner ever to win a CAA Championship. Her performance helped the Huskies collect 44 points and take home first place, garnering her the Most Outstanding Performer honor.
- Graduate student Azza Borovicka-Swanson was next to finish, taking home All-CAA honors with a fourth-place finish and a time of 20:45.7.
- Next was graduate student Ava Duggan, finishing ninth with a 21:20.3 mark to collect All-CAA honors, followed by graduate student Lena LeBrun, whose 21:27.2 time was good enough for 13th and All-CAA honors.
- Senior Nicole Dunbury was the final Husky to cross the line, finishing 17th at 21:34.2.
MEN
- Godish, the tenth runner to win multiple CAA cross-country individual championships, continued to display his dominance on the racecourse, helping his team to another second-place finish with 49 points. The Huskies finished one spot behind Stony Brook, which garnered 48 points.
- Graduate student Tyler Brogan was next to finish for Northeastern, taking seventh with a time of 24:59.1 on the 8k course, beating his previous mark by 21 seconds to earn All-CAA honors.
- Following Brogan was senior Kyle Sarney, who rounded out the top ten with a 25:11.1 time and earned an All-CAA honor.
- Freshmen Ryan Leslie and Nico Boyle rounded out the Northeastern top five, with Leslie taking 15th at 25:20.6 to collect All-CAA Honors and Boyle finishing just behind in 16th with a 25:26.6 mark.
Following Friday's action, the Northeastern cross country teams return to the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H., for the NCAA Northeast Regionals on Friday, Nov. 15.
