BOSTON – Coming off an undefeated weekend, the Northeastern volleyball team (10-14, 8-8 CAA) is set to close out the regular season at Charleston (21-8, 13-3 CAA) on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. on both days and will stream on FloVolleyball.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- LAST TIME OUT – Kinley Gomez tallied a team-high 12 kills as the Huskies completed the weekend sweep over the Campbell Camels with a four-set victory on Sunday. Nadia Koanui was also strong in the back row with a game-high 23 digs, and Beatrice Gennari paced the squad with a team-high five blocks.
- CAN YOU DIG IT – Koanui has been stellar for the Huskies this season on defense, tallying double-digit digs in 22 matches this season. Koanui ranks second in the CAA with 415 total digs, averaging 4.72 per set, which is also first on the team.
- CAA TOURNAMENT SCENARIOS – NU controls its own path to the CAA Championship, as two wins would clinch the No. 6 seed. If the Huskies go 1-1, NU would need Stony Brook to lose at least once. If NU drops both matches this weekend and falls to 8-10, the Huskies can still qualify for the championship with either two Stony Brook losses *or* a 1-1 weekend from Stony Brook and a 2-0 weekend from William & Mary, which does not finish its season until Sunday afternoon. Northeastern would end up on the outside looking in if the 6-seed is decided by a two-team tiebreak with Stony Brook, which holds a sets-won advantage over NU in their series split. The Huskies have a head-to-head tiebreaker over William & Mary thanks to beating the Tribe twice and would win a three-team tiebreak at 8-10 with the Seawolves and Tribe based on NU having the superior record (3-1) in matches between the three teams this fall.
The CAA tournament will take place on November 21 through November 23 at Towson University.
