Northeastern Concludes 2024 Season At NCAA Northeast Regionals

HOPKINTON, N.H. — Graduate student Abigail Hassman took 11th in the women's 6k race, and senior Ben Godish finished 14th in the men's 10k at the NCAA Northeast Cross Country Regionals at Hopkinton Fairgrounds Friday afternoon. Both runners were named to the NCAA Northeast All-Region Team for their performances.

WOMEN

  • Hassman set a time of 20:09.44 in her 11th place finish and was the first CAA runner to cross the finish line.
  • The Northeastern women's cross country team concluded the meet with a score of 253 to finish sixth out of 39 competing teams. Four of the seven runners placed in the top 100.
  • Graduate student Ava Duggan was the next Husky to finish, posting a time of 20:49.12 to grab 34th. Graduate student Azza Borovicka-Swanson followed in 45th place with a 20:59.31 mark.
  • Graduate student Lena LeBrun rounded out the top 100 finishes for the Huskies, crossing the line in 54th with a time of 21:06.92.
  • Senior Vivian McMahon (21:55.52), sophomore Keira Gamily (22:05.30), and senior Nicole Dunbury (22:31.75) all followed to finish Northeastern's top seven.

MEN

  • Godish edged a top 15 finish by just over a second in the 10k, running across the line in 30:17.46.
  • The men's team earned 479 points to finish 17th among the 38 competing teams, and two Huskies finished inside the top 100.
  • Graduate student Tyler Brogan was the next runner to cross the line, earning 96th place and recording a 31:56.51 time.
  • Following Brogan were sophomore Ryan Sarney (32:12.86) and freshman Ryan Leslie (32:13.47), who crossed the line less than a second apart from each other to finish 116th and 117th.
  • Freshman Nico Boyle rounded out the Northeastern top five with a top 150 finish and 32:31.89 mark in his first attempt at the Northeast Regional. Senior Kyle Sarney (32:43.95) and sophomore Ryan Gruckza (32:52.03) were the final runners to finish for the Huskies.

The Huskies wrap up the 2024 cross country season with plenty of records and accomplishments to look back on, including the first-ever CAA women's cross country title and another two individual wins at the CAA Championships.
