No. 2 Huskies Take On No. 3 Delaware In CAA Semifinal

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — For the first time since 2012, the Northeastern Huskies field hockey team (12-6, 5-1 CAA) enters the CAA tournament as the No. 2 seed, and will take on the No. 3 seed Delaware Blue Hens (8-9, 4-2 CAA) on Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. at Buckley Field. The matchup will be streaming on FloSports.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. HOWLIN HUSKIES — Five Northeastern Huskies earned all CAA honors, as announced by the league office at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Graduate student captain Lauren Rowe was the lone Husky to be named to the All-CAA First team, making it the fifth time in her career and the only player in program history to reach this accomplishment. Senior Lara Taylor and junior Emmy Stubbs were selected to the All-CAA Second Team for the second time in their careers, while senior Maria Armaganian earned a spot on the Second Team for the first time. Freshman Juana Gonzalez-Peyru rounded out the award winners with an All-CAA Rookie Team nod.
  2. PAST POSTSEASONS—This year's postseason berth is the seventh in the last eight years for Northeastern. In that span, the team has reached one CAA Championships game, where they eventually fell to Delaware 2-1 in 2019. Last season, the Huskies entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed, falling in a close battle to No. 1 Monmouth 2-1, where senior Alana Fields scored the lone goal from a penalty corner.
  3. LAST TIME AGAINST THE BLUE HENS – Northeastern and Delaware last met in Newark earlier this season. The Huskies came home victorious after two early goals from Gonzalez-Peyru, her first collegiate goal, and sophomore Alex Mega proved to be the difference in the 2-1 win. The win on Oct. 18 also extended the winning streak against the Blue Hens to two, the first time since 2011-2012.
If the Huskies win Friday, they will then take on the winner of No. 1 Drexel and No. 4 Monmouth on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. in the CAA Championship game at Buckley Field. That matchup will be streamed on FloSports.
