BOSTON – In the second-to-last CAA series of the regular season, the Northeastern Huskies (33-13, 14-7 CAA) head to Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina for a three-game series with the College of Charleston Cougars (34-11, 16-4 CAA) beginning Friday afternoon, May 10
th at 4 p.m. on FloBaseball.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- BACK AT PATRIOTS POINT
- The Huskies are back at The Ballpark at Patriots Point this weekend, where they made a 2023 CAA Tournament run out of the loser's bracket to the Championship game last May. Northeastern went 3-2 in last year's tournament in Mt. Pleasant, falling twice to UNCW. It's the first regular season series for the Huskies at Patriots Point since 2022, where the Cougars swept the Huskies in the three-game series. Northeastern has a 3-9 all-time record against the Cougars on the road, but a 16-14 record in the all-time series.
- RETURN OF THE MAC
- After Tuesday's contest against UConn, there's a new offensive leader in the clubhouse – Tyler MacGregor mashed three home runs in Tuesday's game, after belting two more the game before at North Carolina A&T, to lead the team in home runs with 17, and in batting average with .400. MacGregor has 10 homers in his last seven games, and is second on the team in RBIs with 66.
- RACE TO THE TOP
- Northeastern enters the weekend 2.5 games back of the second-place spot in the CAA standings, currently held by Charleston. The winner of this series puts itself in a strong clinching position for a first-round tournament bye with just three conference games remaining.
In the final week of the regular season, the Huskies will travel to Lowell next Tuesday, May 14
th to play UMass Lowell at 3 p.m. at LeLacheur Park – Northeastern returns home for the final three games of the season, hosting Stony Brook at Friedman Diamond on Thursday, May 16
th to Saturday, May 18
th.
