Lenika Vazquez Names Anabel Zier As Assistant Coach

BOSTON – Northeastern volleyball head coach Lenika Vazquez is thrilled to welcome Anabel Zier to her staff as an Assistant Coach. Zier previously was a student-athlete for the Huskies during the 2023-24 season.
 
"I am thrilled to welcome Anabel Zier back to our team as our new assistant coach," said Vazquez. "As a former standout player and leader, Anabel's deep understanding of our program and her exceptional skills make her the perfect fit for this role. Her experience and passion will be invaluable as she connects with our players and brings a new level of insight to coaching our middles. I am excited to see the impact she'll have on and off the court." 
 
In her graduate student season at Northeastern, Zier played in over 90 sets, and averaged 2.20 kills and .92 blocks per set. The Blacksburg, Virginia native had eight matches with double-digit kills, highlighted by a season-high 16 kills and nine blocks against Elon. Zier capped off her career in style garnering All-CAA Second Team honors, ranking fifth in conference with a .351 hitting percentage.
 
Prior to Northeastern. Zier played four seasons at Virginia Tech (249 total sets played) with 338 total kills and 163 block assists.
 
Off the court, Zier was an Assistant Volleyball Coach at River Valley Juniors Volleyball Club in 2021-22. At River Valley, Zier helped with skill instruction and technique to prepare athletes for competition, conducted practice sessions, and organized team travel.
 
Zier graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Experimental Neuroscience at Virginia Tech in 2022, and earned her Master's certificate in Biotechnology from Northeastern in 2024.
