Huskies Open CAA Play At Drexel, Host VCU For Youth & Alumni Game

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Northeastern field hockey team (3-4, 0-0 CAA) begins conference play on the road against Drexel on Friday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. at Buckley Field. The Huskies then return to Dedham Field after a two-and-a-half week long road trip to host Virginia Commonwealth for the Youth & Alumni Game on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 12 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FloSports.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. CAA-N YOU DIG IT — The Huskies are gearing up to open conference play this Friday at Drexel and will look to make the conference tournament for the fifth time in the last six years. Only four teams will make the field hockey conference tournament, hosted at Monmouth University from November 8-10 this year. Last year, the Huskies finished fourth in the CAA with a 3-3 conference record.
  2. HOUSE OF THE DRAGONS — Northeastern and Drexel will meet for the 33rd time in program history, with the Huskies controlling a 22-9-1 series lead. Last year, Drexel took a 3-2 decision in double overtime at Dedham Field. However, in the previous five meetings at the Dragons' den, the Huskies have won three of the last five contests, including a 1-0 win in the most recent meeting at Buckley Field in 2022.
  3. WELCOME HOME HUSKIES — Following the matchup against Drexel, Northeastern returns to Dedham Field for their first home game in three weeks. The Huskies host VCU in a return fixture, where the Rams took a 2-1 victory in Richmond, VA in last year's contest. It will be the eighth meeting between both teams, where the Huskies hold a 5-2 all-time series lead against the Rams.
The Huskies will remain in the commonwealth following this weekend, hosting fellow Massachusetts rival UMass Lowell on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 12 p.m. The matchup can be streamed on FloSports.
