BOSTON, Mass.— Freshman center Alyssa Staten of the Northeastern women's basketball team was named CAA Rookie of the Week as announced on Monday.
Staten posted a double-double average on the teams 1-1 week, averaging 13.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. The freshman shot an impressive 73.3% from the floor going 11-15 attempts. In the 49-43 victory over Elon, the freshman center set a new career-high with 15 points alongside eight boards. Staten closed out the weekend with a 12-point and 13-rebound performance against Hofstra.
On the season Staten has registered a 0.528 field goal percentage, a conference leading 9.8 rebounds per game (in conference match ups), and is averaging 6.5 points per game.
Staten and the Huskies are back in action in the CAA Tournament in Washington, D.C. as they take on No. 11 seeded Towson on Wednesday, March 12 at 4:30 p.m.
