Volleyball Opens Home Play Against Towson

BOSTON - The Northeastern volleyball team is on home court for the first time this season on Friday, September 26, and Saturday, September 27. The Huskies will be taking on Towson for both matches, with Friday afternoon's match being the program's mental health awareness game. 

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. TOWSON VS. NORTHEASTERN HISTORY - The visiting Towson team holds a 22-20 history advantage over the home Huskies. Northeastern fell in the last match-up between the two teams by a 3-0 final. Brynn Smith led Northeastern last season with 11 kills and three digs. Defensively, Nadia Koanui paced the Huskies with 14 digs. 

2. SEASON STAT LEADERS - With 11 games under their belt, the Huskies are offensively paced by first-year opposite hitter Emma Rowell, who has recorded 112 kills, averaging 2.55 kills per set at a .243 clip. Defensively, junior Kaylin Daniels leads the team in total blocks (39) and is averaging one per set. The captain is averaging 2.56 points per set from her defensive plays. Senior Nadia Koanui has tallied a team-high 15 service aces alongside a team-leading 176 digs. 

3. CAA STAT LEADER BOARD - Junior duo Beatrice Gennari (No. 1) and Kaylin Daniels (No. 2) continue to lead the conference in hitting percentage, with Gennari hitting at a .478 clip, and Daniels just behind at a .433 clip. Daniels has moved into the sixth slot of blocks per set in the CAA, averaging 1.00. First-year Sofia King has moved into the top 10 (9) in assists per set with an average of 5.69. As a team, the Huskies are No. 2 in hitting percentage (.244), No. 2 in average opponent digs (12.39), and No. 3 in assists per set (12.25). 

Northeastern returns to the road next week, traveling down to Elon, N.C. for a pair of games against the Phoenix. The teams first match-up will be Saturday, October 11, with a 7 p.m. start time on FloCollege.
