BOSTON, Mass. - Northeastern University junior goaltender Lawton Zacher has been selected as a 2026 Mike Richter Award Semifinalist, the Hockey Commissioner's Association announced Friday.
Awarded annually to the NCAA's top goaltender, the Richter Award semifinalist recognition places Zacher among college hockey's elite. He becomes Northeastern's first semifinalist since two-time Richter winner Devon Levi (2022, 2023). Zacher was originally named to the award's Watch List on January 14th.
Through 1,379 minutes played, Zacher's four shutouts are tied for first nationally -- those four shutouts have come in statement performances against #7 Denver, #11/10 Boston College, New Hampshire and Stonehill -- while his .929 save percentage ranks tied for sixth in the country. His 2.17 goals against average sits 16th overall, and he's accumulated 650 saves (15th nationally).
In Hockey East action, Zacher has appeared in 842:10 minutes of conference play. His 388 total saves rank third in the league, while he's posted a .924 save percentage (tied for fourth), a 2.28 goals against average (sixth), and two shutouts (tied for third).
Additionally, the New York native has collected four Hockey East awards this season, including two Player of the Week honors, Goaltender of the Month for October, and a Goaltender of the Week distinction. The HCA also recognized him as Goalie of the Month in October.
