Huskies Clash As NU Hosts No. 12 UConn

BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team is set to host the No. 12 UConn Huskies this Friday (Feb. 6) at Bentley Arena for a 7 p.m. puck drop, marking the third matchup between the two programs this season and the 31st meeting all-time.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. HUSKIES VS. OTHER HUSKIESIn the first meeting during the 2025-26 campaign, freshmen Dylan Compton and Jack Pechar each scored their first collegiate goals in the third period of the contest, while rookie Jacob Mathieu and sophomore Joe Connor each recorded two blocks on the defensive end. In the second matchup, Compton struck again to collect the first multi-goal weekend of his collegiate career, and goaltender Lawton Zacher made 30 saves over 62:29 of action.
  2. CHEW ON THAT: Freshman Jacob Mathieu has ignited his collegiate career with 23 points across 25 games—the second-highest total on the Huskies roster—on seven goals and 16 assists. Over the past decade, Mathieu's current point total trails (or ties) only the following notable Huskies alumni from their final freshman season totals: Dylan Hryckowian (34 pts), Tyler Madden (28 pts), Aidan McDonough (27 pts), Zach Solow (26 pts), Jeremy Davies (23 pts), and Cam Lund (23 pts).
  3. PUTTIN' ON THE RITZ: Assistant captain Dylan Hryckowian leads all Northeastern skaters in points (33), goals (15) and assists (18). His 33 points in 25 games and 1.32 points-per-game average pace all Hockey East skaters in both conference and overall scoring. He has recorded at least one point in all but seven games during the 2025-26 campaign. The Quebec native led all Hockey East skaters with 12 points from five goals and seven assists in the month of January, averaging 1.5 points per contest.
