Northeastern Draws New Hampshire In Hockey East Tournament Opener

BOSTON, Mass. — The seventh-seeded Northeastern men's hockey team faces tenth-seeded New Hampshire for the third time this season on Wednesday, March 11 in the opening round of the 2026 Hockey East Tournament at Conte Forum — puck drop is set for 7 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. CLASH WITH THE 'CATS: Assistant captain Dylan Hryckowian leads all current Huskies in career points against New Hampshire with five (3G, 2A), with junior Andy Moore, sophomore Griffin Erdman and freshman Jacob Mathieu each adding three points apiece in the all-time series. Northeastern has outscored the Wildcats 9-2 across two meetings this season, including a 4-0 shutout at Whittemore Center and a 5-2 win at Walter Brown Arena.
  2. 2025 TOURNAMENT FLASHBACKNortheastern made Hockey East Tournament history as the first nine-seed to reach the semifinals, upsetting No. 1 Boston College in the quarterfinals after a double-overtime win over Merrimack in the opening round. The run ended in a 4-3 double-overtime loss to Maine at TD Garden, with goaltender Cameron Whitehead stopping 57 shots — second-most in program history.
  3. RAISING THE BARSeveral Huskies have matched or surpassed their career-high point totals in 2025-26. Sophomore Joe Connor ranks third on the team with 24 points (12G, 12A), including three game-winning goals, while fellow sophomore Griffin Erdman has set career highs across the board with 14 points (5G, 9A). Junior Dylan Hryckowian has matched his career-best 36 points (15G, 21A) and surpassed 100 career points, becoming the first Husky to reach the century mark since his older brother Justin and just the 24th player in program history to do so in three seasons or fewer.
