The two finest field hockey teams in the history of America East had their annual regular season battle on Saturday, and Boston University prevailed 2-0 over Northeastern at Nickerson Field.
The last time NU and BU got together was for last season's America East title game, which the Terriers won by the same score, 2-0. NU and BU have played for the title in four of the past five seasons.
The Huskies had some great chances on Saturday, with eight penalty corners to the Terriers' four. But Susan Harrington made three saves to shut out NU. After a scoreless first half, the Terriers got on the board with 22:48 left in the second half as Rachel Stillings scored from Kate Cusick and Jane Rogers. It was Rogers who did the Huskies in last year, with a pair of goals in the championship game.
BU then added an insurance goal with 10:59 left as Celeste Hubbard tallied from Robyn Kenney.
NU dropped to 3-4 in America East play and has now dropped three straight to the Terriers.
