Northeastern 3, Brown 0

BOSTON, MA — The Northeastern University field hockey used three first half goals to defeat the visiting Brown Bears 3-0 on Wednesday night in field hockey at Sweeney Field in Boston.

Junior Fior Arrindell (Oakville, CT) had a pair of goals for the Huskies and senior Kelly Williams (Shoreham, NY) had a pair of assists. Senior Krisanne Duchemin (Mashpee, MA) had the other goal for the Huskies.

It was NU's sixth straight win as the Huskies improve to 8-1 on the season. The loss snaps Brown's three-game winning streak as the Bears fall to 3-4.

Duchemin began the scoring when she knocked in a rebound of a Williams' shot at 19:47 of the first half. Exactly five minutes later, Arrindell blasted home a goal for her fourth goal of the season. She added her fifth goal of the season at 5:47 of the first half, on an assist from Williams. Arrindell now has three goals in the last two games.

Kathleen Madaus (Boylston, MA) made two saves in net for the Huskies, picking up her sixth win of the season and third shutout. It was Madaus's 20th shutout of her career, tying her for fourth all-time at Northeastern. NU as a team has now allowed one goal or fewer in six straight games, including four shutouts.

Freshman Kathryn Noe (Simsbury, CT) got the start in net for the Bears and made 10 saves.

The six-game winning streak is the longest for the Huskies since a 10-game steak during the 1998 season. The 8-1 start to the season equals the best start in program history. The 1981 team also began the season 8-1.

Northeastern next plays on Friday night at league opponent New Hampshire. The Huskies are currently in first place in America East with a 3-0 record.
