The Northeastern volleyball team defeated the Hartford Hawks 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Solomon Court. NU improves to 9-13 overall and 2-1 in America East play, while Hartford falls to 10-9 on the season and 1-2 in league action.
Leading the way for NU was Lindsay Wagner with 14 kills and Larissa Adomat with 13 kills. For the match the Huskies hit an impressive .418.
Northeastern jumped out to an early 7-3 lead in game one before Hartford rallied. The Hawks made it a one-point game at 9-8, but from then on it was all NU as the Huskies won game one 30-20.
At the beginning of game two it was a back-and-forth battle as the score was tied at 6-6. Hartford then went on a 6-1 run making the score 12-7 and causing NU head coach Ken Nichols to call a timeout. The Huskies responded as they ran off four straight points and Hartford then took a timeout. Both teams traded points for nearly the remainder of the game until NU eventually pulled away for a 30-26 victory.
Northeastern kept rolling in game three as the Huskies jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead and never looked back. NU took the final game of the match 30-17.
Next up for Northeastern is a meeting with Connecticut on Tuesday night at Solomon Court. Game time is 7:30 p.m. and it's NU's final non-conference match of the season.
