The Northeastern volleyball team won its fourth straight match on Friday night as the Huskies defeated the Binghamton Bearcats 3-0 at Solomon Court. NU improves to 12-13 on the season and 4-1 in America East action, while BU falls to 7-14 overall and 2-3 in league play.
The Huskies were led by freshman Larissa Adomat and senior Lindsay Wagner who each tallied a game-high 12 kills.
Binghamton was paced by Jennifer Smith's nine kills, 12 assists and seven digs.
The first game was a tight battle in the early going before Northeastern pulled away. With the scored tied at 6-6, NU went on a 9-0 run to gain a 15-6 advantage. The Huskies never looked back as they took the opening game 30-17.
In the early going, game two was very similar to the first contest. NU and BU were tied at 10-10 before the Huskies reeled off another 9-0 run to push their lead to 19-10. Binghamton, however, then fought back with a 17-7 run to take the lead at 27-26. NU head coach Ken Nichols called a timeout to rally the troops and it worked as Northeastern eventually took game two 30-28.
Both teams once again found themselves tied at 6-6 in game three before Binghamton went on a 7-2 run to push its lead to 13-8. NU responded with a 5-0 run of its own to tie the game at 13-13. NU and BU traded points until Northeastern took its first lead of game three at 19-18. The Huskies then slowly worked their way to a 30-27 win for the game and the match.
Next up for Northeastern is America East foe Albany on Saturday afternoon at Solomon Court. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
