Junior Sara Webber and Liane Dixon each scored a goal to lead the seventh-ranked Huskies past visiting New Hampshire in America East action at Sweeney Field Saturday afternoon.

NU improved to 14-3 overall and 3-1 in America East play, while the Wildcats fall to 11-6 and 3-1. The Huskies finished the regular season with a 9-0 home record.

"Under these conditions it was a great win," said NU coach Cheryl Murtagh, whose team prevailed despite playing through driving rain the entire contest. "We came out ready to play and to have these kids step up in these conditions was a credit to their fortitude."

In the 10th minute of play, NU had back-to-back corners. On the second corner Fior Arrindell ripped a shot to the far corner, but UNH's Christine Buckley came up with a kick save.

The Huskies continued to pressure the Wildcats and kept play in the UNH zone with a well executed ball control.

After 30 minutes of scoreless action, NU was finally rewarded for its aggressive play. After an Arrindell penalty corner shot was blocked, Webber collected the ball and sent a shot toward the goal from 10-yards out, which deflected off a UNH defender's stick and caroumed over the goalie's head and into the net with 4:24 remaining before the break.

The Huskies went into the half with a 1-0 lead, a 7-1 shot advantage, and a 6-1 penalty corner advantage.

NU increased its lead to 2-0 six minutes into the second half when Dixon knocked in a rebound past an outstretched Buckley, who laid out to block a blast from Sarah Broderick and Leigh Shea.

The Huskies were relentless in the second half, outshooting the Wildcats, 10-2 with a 7-1 penalty corner advantage. However, Buckley kept UNH in the game with four saves in the half and six overall.

With 1:22 remaining in the game, Marcie Boyer put the Wildcats on the board off a penalty corner. Jen Stamp and stick stop Kristen Weldon earned assists.
