The Northeastern volleyball team's season came to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Huskies were defeated 3-2 by Stony Brook in the semifinals of the 2002 America East Volleyball Championship in Durham, N.H. Second-seeded NU was upset by #3 Stony Brook, who will now advance to the finals to take on top-seeded New Hampshire.

SBU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as it took the first two games 30-25 and 30-26. NU responded in games three and four, winning 30-26 and 30-27, before falling in the fifth and final game, 15-8. In the victory the Seawolves improve to 22-12 on the year, while the Huskies fall to 18-15 overall.

Senior Lindsay Wagner was stellar in her final match as a Husky, recording 25 kills on 55 attacks with six errors for a .345 hitting percentage. She also added 14 digs.

Freshman Larissa Adomat contributed with 13 kills, while Rebecca Holland (12 kills, 17 digs) was also a top performer for NU.

As a team, the Huskies were outhit .150 to .234.

Northeastern and Stony Brook had split their two previous meetings this season with the road team winning each contest.
