The Northeastern volleyball team improved to 2-0 on the 2002 season with a 3-0 victory over host Colgate in the Colgate Invitational on Saturday afternoon. NU took the match in three straight games, 30-15, 30-20 and 30-16.
The Huskies were led offensively by setter Kristin Ursillo who registered 39 assists. Senior Lindsay Wagner had a well-rounded match, collecting the only double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs, while sophomore transfer Jana Kubalova finished with 10 kills.
The Raiders were led by senior Melissa Rawson and junior Claire Putzeys. Rawson registered seven kills and five digs while Putzeys collected six kills. Sophomore Natalie Rawson (Palmdale, Calif.) put in a strong defensive effort, digging a career-high 10 balls. Senior Amy Rawson and freshman Allie Nichols tallied 11 assists apiece.
Next up for Northeastern is Tulsa at 3 p.m. today. With a victory, NU could win the 2002 Colgate Invitational.
