The Northeastern volleyball team swept Tulsa 3-0 in three hotly contested games at the Colgate Invitational on Saturday afternoon, winning the tournament with a perfect record of 3-0.
After taking game one 30-28, Northeastern managed to win the next two games 30-26 and 30-27 to win the match. The Huskies were led offensively by freshman Larissa Adomat. With 15 kills on 24 attempts and no errors, Adomat recorded an impressive .625 hitting percentage on the match.
Sophomore transfer Jana Kubalova continued her great offensive play with 11 kills, while there were a host of Huskies who contributed on defense. Lindsay Wagner (18 digs), Rebecca Holland (16 digs), Kelly Cognac (14 digs) and Kristin Ursillo (11 digs) all tallied double-digit dig totals. Ursillo also recorded a double-double with 40 assists.
Kristen Bailey and Dana Weddle led the Golden Hurricanes with 15 and 13 kills, respectively while Vanessa Thon handed out 34 assists in the loss. Tammy Leuer and Thon led Tulsa in digs with 14 apiece.
With the victory the Huskies improve to 3-0 on the season. Next up for NU is a trip to South Florida on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.
