ORLANDO, FL - The Northeastern volleyball team was defeated 3-2 by Central Florida on Saturday afternoon in the first match of the 2002 Central Florida Challenge.
It was a back-and-forth match as NU and UCF alternated the first four games with NU winning the first and third (30-24 and 30-22) and UCF taking the second and fourth (30-25 and 30-28). The Knights, however, broke the back and forth streak by taking the fifth and decisive game 15-12 to win the match.
Leading the way for Northeastern was junior setter Kristin Ursillo. A San Diego, Calif. native, Ursillo racked up 60 assists, tying a career-high, and added 16 digs. Freshman Larissa Adomat led NU's offensive attack with 18 kills on 38 attacks and just one error for a .447 hitting percentage.
Also chipping in for the Huskies was Lindsay Wagner (17 kills and 12 digs) and "libero" Kelly Cognac with a team-high 20 digs.
Next up for NU is Stephen F. Austin at 3 p.m., also part of the 2002 Central Florida Challenge.
