The volleyball team fell to the Hofstra Pride in the CAA Semifinals Saturday at Viera Court in Newark, Del. The Huskies finish the season 19-13(11-3 CAA) and in second place in the regular season. 2007 CAA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Tittl had six kills and first team All-CAA Kira Batura had seven digs in the loss. The third-seeded Pride face host Delaware tomorrow at 5 p.m.
Hofstra took game one 30-24. The Huskies stayed within four points of the Pride throughout the game tying the game six times. Down by two Caitlin Tittl kill tied the game at 18 after a block and a kill. She also had a kill to tie the game at 26 before six straight Hofstra points ended game one. Brianna Seitz and Lauren DeTurk each had four kills in game one.
The Pride took a quick 7-1 lead in game two before head coach
Ken Nichols called a timeout.But the Pride ran game two 30-16. Freshman Jillian Robinson subbed into the game to serve at 28-14 and led the Huskies to two points but a service error gave the Pride game point, 29-16. Hofstra got a kill from Lauren Engle to take game two, and a 2-0 match lead.
The Huskies kept game three close in the early minutes but the Pride soon opened up a double-digit lead. Down 20-9 Nichols called time out but the Pride scored first after the break and took game three 30-14.
