The Huskies completed their weekend tournament against top competition this evening by taking on the University of Idaho. Northeastern hung tough throughout the match, but ultimately fell in three games to Idaho to close out the tournament.
After taking on #12 Cal earlier in the day and Florida International yesterday, a team who won a share of the Sun Belt regular season championship last season, Northeastern took on an Idaho team that went 10-6 last season in the Western Athletic Conference.
The Vandals snuck by Northeastern in game one, taking the first contest 30-27. The Huskies led 24-21, but Idaho took nine of the final 12 points took win the game.
In game two, the Huskies trailed 17-25, but ripped off seven straight points to get within 24-25. Idaho though was able to stave off Northeastern to take the second game 30-25. The Vandals took game three 30-23 to close out the match.
Lauren DeTurk led a balanced attack for Northeastern with eight kills, while Kira Batura had seven kills, and Caitlin Tittl and Britney Brown each had six. Brown also had 21 assists, matching her total from Friday's contest against Florida International.
The Huskies get back in action next Tuesday when they take on the University of Maine.
