The volleyball team swept Boston College in its first match at the Mass. Challenge Saturday afternoon at Solomon Court.
In the first set BC started out the set with a 3-0 run. The Huskies bounced back and tied the set at 7-7. The Huskies would rally to take a 13-10 lead due to the great serving of Brianna Seitz. Boston College tried to fight back posting a hit percentage of .435 but NU didn't look back and came out victorious in the first set.
In the second set the Huskies had a hit percentage of .333 to the Eagles .237. Northeastern came out and took an early 4-1 lead. BC made a run of their own due to the serves of Mollie Kolosky. The Eagles got within two late in the set but blocks from Caitlin Tittl and Britney Brown stuffed BC's hopes of a come back. NU went on to win the set 25-21.
The set was a hard fought battle between the two teams. NU and BC went back and fourth throughout the whole set. The Huskies went on a 3-0 run to take a 20-17 lead over the Eagles. Boston College tired to make a late run but the team's six errors became costly towards the end. Sophomore Jillian Robinson lead the Huskies to a third set win and match victory with her one kill and two solo blocks.
The Huskies face Holy Cross tonight at 7 p.m. in their second match at the Mass. Challenge at Solomon Court.
