The Northeastern volleyball team got off to a strong start on Friday but ultimately fell short, losing to George Mason, 3-1. The Huskies move to 11-6 (2-1 CAA) on the season.
The first set began as a close affair before Northeastern began to pull away. The Huskies held a 19-13 lead before the Patriots started their comeback. George Mason closed the gap to one point before Northeastern took a timeout with a 21-20 lead.
Following the break, the Huskies were able to close out the match behind the serving of senior
Helene Servillon, who sealed the set with a service ace, giving Northeastern a 25-21 victory.
George Mason came out strong in the second set, jumping to an early 8-3 lead, forcing the Huskies to burn an early timeout. The Patriots extended their lead but the Huskies were able to even the match at 13-13. George Mason would not back down and was able to regain the lead and close out the match for a 25-20 victory.
The Patriots carried their momentum into the third set and opened up a 7-0 lead. The Huskies never found their rhythm as the Patriots pulled away for a 24-15 win.
George Mason earned the match victory in the fourth set, with a 25-13 win. The set was tied at 5-5 before the Patriots took a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the set.
Freshman
Janelle Tucker posted a team-high 17 kills, for the Huskies while adding nine digs.
Senior
Britney Brown dished out 20 assists to go with nine kills and nine digs while freshman
Ina Kamenova added 18 assists and six digs.
Senior Jessica LaScola led Northeastern with 13 digs.
