BC piled nine runs on the Huskies in the first four innings, cruising to a 9-3 win over NU.
Frank Compagnone drilled an RBI triple in the first inning and
Matt Miller smashed a two-run home run in the third, but it was not enough to take down a strong Eagles lineup.
Kevin Ferguson was solid out of the bullpen, tossing five innings allowing only a three-run home run. He scattered six hits and issued no walks.
Chris Carmain finished the game off with a perfect ninth inning.
The Huskies started the game with a bang in the bottom of the first.
Alan Pastyrnak singled up the middle with one out.
Tony DiCesare grounded into a fielder's choice and scored from first on the next play when Compagnone drove a 1-1 pitch deep into left center field. Compagnone dove safely into third base for his first triple of 2010.
BC answered the next inning with an RBI triple of its own to tie the score at 1-1. The Eagles took the lead for good in the third inning, tagging starter
JT Ross for five runs on four hits.
NU, down 6-1 heading to the bottom of the third, staged a small comeback.
Ryan Maguire drew a four pitch walk, setting up Miller's blast to right that brought the score within three, 6-3. The home run was Miller's second bomb of the season and the third of his career. Pastyrnak ripped his second single of the day following Miller, but the Huskies went down one-two-three after the single, ending the inning down 6-3.
The Huskies mustered just two more hits the rest of the game, both coming in the sixth inning. DiCesare led off the inning with a single to right and pinch-hitter
Logan Gillis whacked a single of his own. The Eagles' relief staff kept NU at bay the remainder of the game, locking down a 9-3 victory.
Ross takes his fourth loss of the season. Dave Laufer, a junior RHP for BC, nabbed his second win of the season.
The Huskies return to action on Saturday in a CAA double header against UNC-Wilmington at Friedman Diamond. Game one, featuring
Les Williams on the mound, is slated the start at 11 a.m. Following Williams in game two will be
Charly Bashara, who is getting just his second start of 2010.
