Huskies claim second straight with 3-1 win over BC

The Huskies improved to 2-1 on the season with a 3-1 win at Boston College in their final game of the Beanpot Classic Tournament on Saturday afternoon. Freshman outside hitter Kelly Bacon led the way for Northeastern offensively with 12 kills while senior defensive specialist Helene Servillon notched a team-high 13 digs.

Sophomore middle hitter Nicole Bishop posted a match-high .474 attack percentage with 11 kills and led Northeastern with four blocks. Senior setter Britney Brown posted her third double-double in as many games, with a team-high 22 assists and 11 kills. Freshman outside hitter Janelle Tucker also reached double digits in kills as she recorded 10 for the match. Senior libero Jessica LaScola added to Northeastern's defensive presence, tallying 12 digs.

The Eagles stole the first set, 25-21, but the Huskies were able to record victories in the next three sets, 25-21, 25-13, 25-21, to claim their second triumph of the young season.

Brown was named to the All-Tournament team along with classmate LaScola, who was named the Most Valuable Libero.

The Huskies return to action next weekend when they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, to take part in the Xavier Tournament. Northeastern will take on Western Kentucky on Friday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. The Huskies will then take on host Xavier and IPFW on Saturday, Sept. 4 in day two of tournament action.
