Northeastern's youth piloted the Huskies to their first win of the season, outlasting eight other squads at the Boston College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park. Rookies Eric Jenkins and Brian Doyle finished first and second, respectively, once again for the Huskies, earning big points for NU's team victory.

Jenkins claimed second, overall, with a time of 25:04.18 in the 8K trial while Doyle's fourth-place clip of 25:11.68 secured Northeastern's victory.

The Huskies battled it out down the stretch with Albany, winning by a mere 14 points, which is a very slim margin in cross country scoring.

Another veteran performance by Teddy Vrountas helped propel NU to its first team triumph this fall. The Sandwich, Mass. native registered a fifth-place mark of 25:14.16. Sophomore Daniel Grant offered another top-10 performance after kicking in a time of 25:30.47.

Senior James Pellerano looped the 8K path in 25:41.62 for 11th while second-year harrier John Jantz posted a 32nd-place time of 26:21.60. Senior Joe Siravo closed out Northeastern's strong efforts with a 41st-place performance of 26:41.77.

Riley Masters of Maine won the 90-man field in 24:50.19, but his efforts weren't enough to fend off the Huskies' team attack.

After the big victory on their home course of Franklin Park, Northeastern stays close to home to compete in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.
