The Northeastern men's track & field squad closed out the regular season with a second-place showing, totaling 128.5 points at the Stonehill Invitational on Friday evening in Easton, Mass. Stonehill won the event with 148.5 points at WB Stadium.
The Huskies won three individual events, recorded five second-place finishes and the same number of third-place showings in the final tune-up before championship season kicks in next weekend.
Northeastern dominated the hammer throw with a 1-2-3 finish as freshman
James Hall lead the way with a toss of 53.37m (175'1) while classmate
Max Milder cleared 53.34m (175'). Senior
Alex Iannetta was the third-place finisher, eliciting a mark of 53.18m (174'6).
Freshman
Alex Shapiro ran away with the 200-meter crown, winning the event with a time of 22.34 while
Brian Daly dominated the pole vault event by over a foot and a half, clearing 4.70m (15'5).
Freshman
Sean Collins took second place in the 400-meter hurdles, lapping the track in 54.52 while senior
Patrick Jablonski notched second in the discus throw with a mark of 47.27m (155'1). Freshman
Christopher Reider closed out Northeastern's second-place finishes with a mark of 54.40m (178'6) in the javelin throw.
The Huskies' shot put contingent blanketed second through fourth place with senior
Patrick Jablonski leading the way with a throw of 15.81m (51'10.5). Rookie
Kevin Rosenberg cleared 14.81m (48'7.25) for third and classmate John White threw for 14.09m (46'2.75) to capture fourth place.
Collins was the third-place finisher in the 110-meter hurdles with a mark of 15.29. Freshman
Dylan Lucas teamed up with
Brian Daly in the pole vault and cleared 4.25m (13'11.25) for third place while sophomore
Tejorn Davis leapt for 1.88m (6'2) to claim fourth place in the high jump.
Junior
Pablo Rodriguez and senior
Brendan Bergson each captured fourth place in their respective events. Rodriguez cleared 4.10m (13'5.25) in the pole vault while Bergson sprung for 6.60m (21'8) in the long jump. Davis put together a third-place combination of 13.96m (45'9.75) in the triple jump to cap Northeastern's showing on the podium.
Northeastern will switch its focus to the CAA Championship starting on Saturday, May 6th, in Fairfax, Va.
