Freshman distance runner
Eric Jenkins extended his 1,500-meter outdoor season after qualifying for Saturday's quarterfinal with a mark of 3:50.05 on Thursday night at the First Round (East Region) of the NCAA Track & Field Outdoor Championship in Bloomington, Ind.
The Portsmouth, N.H. finished second in his flight of 12, missing out on the top spot in Heat 2 by a margin of less than a second. Overall, Jenkins finished 13th out of 48 harriers. Amongst all freshmen in the field, Jenkins was the second-place finisher (Isaac Presson – 3:48.75 – North Carolina).
Senior tri-captain
Jonathan Hall closed out his Northeastern track & field career on Thursday evening after missing out by 0.24 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles trial. The North Bellmore, N.Y. native looped the track in 52.67 in Heat 5, finishing fifth in the flight of eight. In all, Hall was the 27th-place finisher.
Fourth-year thrower
Patrick Jablonski took part in his first of two events on Thursday evening, finishing 11th in his flight for the shot put. The Deerfield, Mass. native posted a mark of 15.81m (51'10.5). Jablonski finished 44th on Thursday and will compete in the discus throw on Saturday, May 28.
Jenkins toes the line in the 1,500-meter quarterfinal on Saturday, May 28 at 6:45 p.m. with a trip to Eugene, Ore. on the line. Upon conclusion of Jenkins' 1,500-meter run, NU's breakout rookie will compete in the 5,000-meter run at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday night.
