The Northeastern women's volleyball team made quick work of Hofstra on Saturday night, defeating the Pride 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-15) in Hempstead, N.Y.
The Huskies (17-3, 6-0 CAA) won their ninth-straight game, overall, in what was their first road contest since Sept. 8, a 3-1 loss at Duke. NU was led by junior captain
Janelle Tucker, who had a team-high 11 kills along with as six digs. Northeastern also got eight kills apiece from senior captain
Nicole Bishop (who also had four total blocks), sophomore
Jillian Briner, and junior
Kelly Bacon. Junior
Ina Kamenova had a team-high 17 assists, while Briner added 16 helpers. Sophomore
Natalia Skiba led the Huskies' defensive efforts with 11 digs.
Hofstra (14-11, 2-4 CAA) was led by Kelsie Wills' 12 kills on the night. Catalina Charry eclipsed the 2,000-assist mark in her career, and finished the game with 18 assists. Defensively, Kylee Maneja led the Pride with eight digs.
In the first set, Northeastern jumped out to a 10-3 lead with six points coming on Hofstra errors. NU comfortably held the lead for the remainder of the opening frame, clinching the 25-15 win on Tucker's team-high fifth kill of the set. Bishop added four kills, while Kamenova had eight assists and Briner had five.
The Pride turned the tables at the beginning of the second set, taking a 9-3 lead early built on three kills by Wills and four Huskies attacking errors. Hofstra led 22-18 after getting three consecutive service aces by Wills, but then Northeastern went on a 7-0 run, including three Bishop kills, to win the second set 25-22. Bacon and Bishop each had four kills in the set, while Briner added eight assists.

Ava Cramp put the Huskies ahead 20-9, and Northeastern would go on to win the set 25-15, with a Hofstra attacking error sealing the win.
The Huskies return to action next weekend, when they travel to Newark, Del., to face Delaware (9-12, 4-2 CAA) on Friday Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. After that, they will head to Towson, Md. for a showdown against Towson (18-3, 5-0 CAA) on Sunday Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.
