Northeastern vs. James Madison
NU holds a 6-6 record against JMU since the Huskies joined the CAA. Last season, Northeastern visited Harrisonburg, Va. on Oct. 15, walking away with a hard-fought 3-2 win. Briner notched her first career triple-double in the game, with 15 kills, 23 assists and 11 digs, while NU also got double-doubles from Tucker (17 kills, 14 digs) and Bacon (12 kills, 20 digs). The Dukes were paced in the game by Erb (15 kills, 14 digs) and Natalie Abel (14 kills, 11 digs).
Scouting James Madison
The Dukes (9-8, 2-1 CAA) traveled to Hempstead, N.Y., on Friday night and were dealt their first CAA loss of the season at Hofstra, 3-1. After starting the season 1-5, JMU has rebounded to go 7-3 in its last 10 games. Danielle Erb leads the offense for James Madison, with 185 kills and 541 total attacks on the season. Megan Wiechmann has 576 assists on the year, and her 10.47 assists per set are good for second in the CAA. Lizzie Briones leads the Dukes in both hitting percentage (.283) and blocks (51), and Katie Daorai has a team-high 229 digs as well as 19 service aces.
15 and counting
Northeastern won its ninth-straight home match of 2012 and 15th straight at Solomon Court with the 3-0 sweep over George Mason on Friday night NU, with a home record of 9-0, is one of nine Division I teams with eight or more home wins and no home losses. Northeastern's 15-game home winning stretch is the longest home streak in program history.
Tucker takes top honors
After recording double-doubles in a pair of wins over UNCW and William & Mary on Sept. 28th and Sept. 30th, respectively, junior outside hitter
Janelle Tucker (Encino, Calif.) was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Oct 1. Against UNCW, she recorded 15 kills with only two attacking errors. Her hitting percentage for the match was .500, and she also chipped in 11 digs. Against the Tribe, Tucker tallied 10 kills against two attacking errors, while also contributing 10 digs for her 23rd career double-double. She became NU's fourth winner this season, joining
Natalia Skiba's two defensie awards and
Kelly Bacon's Co-CAA Offensive Player of the Week.
Conference leaders
Not only does Northeastern sit in first place in the CAA, they also rank highly in the conference in several team and individual categories. As a squad, NU is first in opponent's hitting percentage (.163), and second in team hitting percentage (.238), assists per set (13.32), kills per set (14.42) and service aces per set (1.55). Sophomore
Natalia Skiba leads the CAA in both digs per set (5.60) and service aces per set (0.43), while Bacon is currently second in kills per set (3.55). In individual hitting percentage, junior
Nichole Kurz is ranked second in the conference (.354), and
Jillian Briner is seventh (.323).
Early leads
This season, Northeastern is 14-1 in games where they win the first set, with the lone loss coming in the 3-1 setback to Duke on Sept. 8. The Huskies are 31-3 over the last two seasons, and 43-7 over the last three years, when they win the first set.
Double-doubles
The Huskies have had 20 different individual double-doubles this season.
Jillian Briner leads the team with seven, including two triple-doubles.
Kelly Bacon is second on Northeastern in double-doubles with five, while
Janelle Tucker has four, junior
Ina Kamenova has three and
Nichole Kurz has one.

Six Huskies – Bacon, Briner, Tucker, Bishop, Kamenova and Skiba – have appeared in all 63 sets for Northeastern this season.
Don't let September end
Northeastern just capped a fantastic month of September, amassing a winning record of 10-2 (.833). That mark denotes the best month of September under the direction of head coack
Ken Nichols. The last time NU met that mark was in 1998 when the Huskies posted a 14-2 (.875) record.
Top notch
Northeastern is currently ranked in the top-50 nationally in four different statistical categories. The Huskies are 22nd in kills per set with 14.42, 28th in aces per set with 1.55 and 28th in assists per set with 13.22. The winning percentage of .824 is 27th best in the country, better than 303 other programs in the country.
