BOSTON -- After a grueling month-long, six-game stretch away from Matthews Arena, the Northeastern women's hockey team returns to Boston to take on No. 9 Boston University in its final contest before the holiday break. The Huskies, who played five opponents in four different states from Nov. 10-29, finished 2-4 on their road trip, which included games against three squads ranked in the top 10 nationally.

The Huskies will be hosting a toy drive during Tuesday's game against the Terriers. Tables will be set up throughout Matthews Arena collecting unwrapped toys for boys and girls of all ages. All donations will benefit Toys for Tots.

Last time out
The Huskies fought back from a one-goal deficit late in the third period to force overtime before redshirt-senior Kelly Wallace lit the lamp with 1:52 remaining in overtime to give Northeastern a 2-1 win over Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H., on Friday.

Karlee Odland gave the Big Green a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the opening frame, a score that held for more than two full periods despite the Huskies peppering Dartmouth netminder Lindsay Holdcroft with 29 shots through the first 40 minutes of play alone. Freshman Hayley Scamurra drew Northeastern even at one apiece with her first collegiate goal 13:02 into the third period, paving the way for Wallace's overtime game-winner.

Junior netminder Chloe Desjardins turned away 23 Big Green shots to earn her seventh win of the season, while the Huskies landed a season-high 42 shots on goal in the contest, 40 of which were stopped by Holdcroft. Senior Katie MacSorley continued her hot streak by assisting on both Northeastern goals, while freshman Melissa Haganey and sophomore Paige Savage each added helpers of their own.

Scouting Boston University
The Terriers have continued their torrid pace since visiting Matthews Arena on Oct. 29 and escaping with a 3-2 overtime win.

No. 9 BU now sits at 11-3-1 overall and a perfect 7-0-0 in Hockey East play, tied for first place in the conference standings with No. 7 Boston College (12-4-1, 7-1-0). The Terriers' win at Northeastern in October was part of an eight-game win streak from Oct. 26 to Nov. 15, which ended via a 5-0 loss to Wisconsin at National Collegiate Hockey Weekend in Vail, Colo., on Nov. 16. BU snapped its season-long two-game losing streak with a 2-1 win at New Hampshire on Nov. 24.

The eight-ranked Terrier offensive attack (2.93 goals per game) continues to be one of the most well-rounded in collegiate hockey, as six skaters on the BU roster have 10 points or more and every non-goaltender has registered at least one point. Sophomore forward Sarah Lefort (8-6-14, 0.93) and junior forward Louise Warren (8-5-13, 0.87) rank 40th and tied for 51st, respectively, in points per game among all Division I skaters to pace the BU offense. The Terrier power playis clicking at a 12.3 percent clip (7-of-57), good for 25th among all man-advantage units nationally.

Senior netminder Kerrin Sperry has maintained her "brick wall" status between the BU pipes, starting 13 games and rattling off a 10-2-1 record with a pair of shutouts, .945 save percentage (fifth nationally) and 1.60 goals against average (eighth). As a team the Terriers allow just 1.80 goals per game, making them the eighth-best defensive unit in the country, and have conceded more than two goals in a game just three times. Their penalty kill unit has been perfect in 63-of-69 opportunities thus far (91.3 percent), making it the third-best unit in college hockey.

BU has won two consecutive games against the Huskies dating back to the 2013 Hockey East Championship game. In its 3-2 overtime loss on Oct. 29, Northeastern received goals from Katie MacSorley and junior Chelsiea Goll while Kelly Wallace added a pair of assists and Chloe Desjardins made a season-high 35 saves.

I'm coming home
Friday's game at Dartmouth ended Northeastern's six-game spell away from Matthews Arena, which began on Nov. 10 and brought the Huskies to four states to take on five different opponents. The season-long road trip included a pair of games at National Collegiate Hockey Weekend in Vail, Colo., which marked Northeastern's first games in the state of Colorado in program history. No. 9 Boston University's visit to Matthews on Dec. 3 will mark the Huskies' first home game in 31 days, its longest span away from home since 2008.

Winner, winner
With their 2-1 overtime win at Dartmouth on Friday, the Huskies earned their first extra-time victory since  the last time the two teams met Dec. 5, 2012 (3-2). It also marked Northeastern's first overtime win away from Matthews Arena since the 2012 Beanpot championship game Feb. 7, 2012, a 4-3 victory at Boston University. Each of the last three contests between Northeastern and Dartmouth have extended past regulation time, which the Huskies going 1-2 in that stretch.

The goal was the first of her collegiate career and first point since notching an assist in Northeastern's 6-1 loss at Boston College on Nov. 10. She now has six points (1-5-6) in 11 games and ranks 28th among all Division I freshmen in points per game (0.55). Only Heather Mottau (1-6-7) has more points than Scamurra among Northeastern rookies.

Wallace has the hot hand
Redshirt-senior Kelly Wallace played hero Friday at Dartmouth, notching her first career overtime goal to lift the Huskies to a 2-1 win and their first overtime victory in nearly a year. Lights, camera, Mac(Sorley)-tion
Following a three-goal weekend against Vermont Nov. 22-23, senior Katie MacSorley factored into both Northeastern goals in Friday's 2-1 overtime win at Dartmouth to give her a three-game point streak. The Stratford, Ontario, native tallied a secondary assist on freshman Hayley Scamurra's game-tying goal late in the third period before adding a helper on redshirt-senior Kelly Wallace's game-winner 3:08 into overtime. Penalty kill proves lethal
The Northeastern penalty kill went a perfect 4-for-4 in Friday's 2-1 overtime win at Dartmouth, marking the first time since Nov. 3 the Huskies did not allow a power play goal -- a stretch of six games. Northeastern is 5-2-1 when it doesn't allow a power play goal this season.

Wasting no time
After a goalless first period, senior Katie MacSorley opened the scoring Nov. 22 at Vermont by giving the Huskies the lead 25 seconds into the second period -- the fastest Northeastern goal to start a period this season.

Assisting - that's her 'Mottau'
Freshman Heather Mottau tallied a helper in each of Northeastern's games at Vermont Nov. 22-23, tying her for the team lead in assists with six and propelling her into the lead for points among Northeastern rookies (1-6-7). The Milton, Mass., native is tied for fifth and eighth among Hockey East defensemen and rookies, respectively, in scoring and tied for 34th and 37th in points per game (0.44) among rookies and defensemen at the national level.

Chloe in the clutch
Junior netminder Chloe Desjardins made 31 and 32 saves at Vermont Nov. 22 and 23, respectively, giving her three consecutive games with at least 31 saves for the first time in her career. The Huskies went 1-2-0 in that stretch and are 4-3-0 this season when Desjardins makes at least 30 saves.
