DEDHAM, Mass. – The No. 17 Northeastern Huskies upset the No. 8 Boston College Eagles in double overtime, 3-2, to push their winning streak to 10 games.

Emma Lamison scored the game-winning goal in dramatic fashion with 9:21 left in second overtime period. The sophomore, who is in the midst of a breakout season, played extremely well throughout the match and capitalized at the most pivotal moment to secure the victory.

Natalie Stewart led Lamison to the goal with a fantastic pass. The forward, cutting from left to right, drew the goalie out of the cage and continued to cut right. The goalkeeper, Leah Settipane, dived to make the stop, but Lamison maintained control and shot from the right side of the circle, placing the ball in the left corner to earn the victory for the Huskies.

This is team's first double-overtime win since the 2012 season when NU defeated Massachusetts on the road in mid-September.

Ten games is the longest winning streak since 2005, and it's only the fifth time in program history the team has won at least 10 in a row. The victory also completes the season sweep of all three of NU's Boston rivals, with the Huskies having beaten Harvard and Boston College just a few weeks ago. This is the fifth time the team has defeated BC, BU and Harvard in one season.

It was a classic matchup of two hard-nose teams, each one taking their shots over the course of the match. It seemed as if every time the Huskies would get an offensive groove going, the Eagles would respond with their own offensive attack and vice-versa.

The game picked up midway through the second half when the Eagles scored to give themselves a 2-1 advantage.

BC took the lead off a penalty corner. Boston College's Romee Stiekma inserted the ball on the corner, her teammates then passed back to her, and she found Emma Plasteras for the goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Becky Garner made a great effort to turn the shot away, but the ball sneaked just past her.

The Huskies, however, maintained their composure and started to put together strong offensive possessions and applied significant pressure to the defense of Boston College.

With just over five minutes remaining, head coach Cheryl Murtagh made a move and pulled Garner in favor of the extra attacker. The team responded to the head coach's aggressiveness and delivered the crucial goal to tie the game with just minutes remaining.

With 2:41 left in the second half, the Huskies tied it up off the stick of Stewart, who was in the perfect spot to capitalize on the chaos in front of the net to beat the keeper. The goal was unassisted.

As the game went into overtime, the first period came and went without a marker. In the first 15-minute period, the Huskies relied on the steady hands of defenders Kaci Coveleski and Jessica Unger. The duo kept constant composure in the backend and helped keep the Eagles' offense away from Garner.

In the second overtime, the offense came alive and the Huskies earned the victory on Lamison's goal.

Boston College opened the game's scoring at the 30:20 mark. The Eagles' AshLeigh Sebia drove down the left side of the field, centered the ball and found teammate Kelcie Hromisin for the tap-in.

The Huskies answered with their own goal just minutes later. Stewart registered her team-leading seventh assist when she found Kelly Dunn cutting towards the net and delivered a spot-on pass for Dunn to rip past Settipane to tie the game.

It was the captain's seventh goal of the season, tying the team-high; Lamison also has seven goals in 2014.

Vanessa Pryor had an excellent scoring chances in the first half. Dunn fed her up the left side of the field with a beautiful pass that she was able to take the goal. The Eagle's goalkeeper, however, was able to come out and contest the ball to stop the play.

Ultimately, the first half came and went without a goal. Both teams had chances to score throughout the opening 35 minutes, but solid defensive stands helped keep the scoreboard clean.

The Huskies are back in action next Friday when they travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, Oct. 12 to take on CAA foe Drexel at 1 p.m. The team then enjoys a week off before returning home to host Maine on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.
