BOSTON – The Northeastern volleyball team and head coach
Ken Nichols announced the additions of
Cherylain Dizon and
Taylor Reiter to the 2014 roster on Friday. Dizon and Reiter join
Kristen Walding,
Carmen Costa and
Brigitte Burcescu to bring the Huskies' incoming class to five members heading into the fall.
"
Cherylain Dizon and
Taylor Reiter round out an exceptional recruiting class," Nichols explained. "With so much talent and so many starters graduating from the program, we clearly are writing a new chapter in Northeastern volleyball. All of these young players are very capable and hungry, but most importantly, they are highly-coachable, eager to improve and ready to help us continue our excellent play in any way they can."

| Cherylain Dizon • Junior • Outside Hitter • 5'9 • Redlands, California • Riverside City College | Cherylain Dizon |
A transfer from Riverside City College, Dizon comes to Northeastern with two years of NCAA eligibility remaining. A 5-foot-9-inch outside hitter, Dizon was named first-team All-Orange Empire Conference as both a freshman and a sophomore, while racking up over 400 kills in two seasons. Dizon paced the squad with 249 kills last year, averaging 3.4/set, and notched a .250 hitting percentage in 21 games. The Redlands, California, native also posted 139 digs and 25 blocks en route to earning Riverside Team MVP honors.
Coach Nichols on Dizon: "Cherylain comes to us with two years of college experience, which will be critical in helping to replace our three graduated outside hitters," Nichols said. "While she is not in that 6-1 to 6-2 range like the rest of this class, she effortlessly plays in the same thin air well above the net. Cherylain also has an aggressive style of attack, with all the shots and vision you would expect from someone who was the kill-leader for a program like Riverside. Her time with coach Monica Hayes-Trainer has prepped her exceptionally well for the rigors of CAA play and I am excited to see what she can do with this opportunity."

| Taylor Reiter • Freshman • Middle Blocker • 6'2 • Tucson, Arizona • Rincon/University High School | Taylor Reiter |
Reiter joins the Husky family after starring as a four-year starter at Rincon/University High School in Tucson, Arizona. A two-year captain, Reiter hit .503 during the 2013 season as a middle blocker. Reiter also played for the AZ Storm Thunder in 2012 and 2013, and the Spiral-18 Under Armour squad that was ranked No. 1 in Arizona with a record of 56-7.
Reiter was named the Southern Arizona Player of the Year in 2013-14 and earned All-State Arizona Division II first team accolades. The 6-foot-2-inch Reiter was named first-team Southern Arizona in three straight seasons (2011-14) and helped the Spiral to a first-place finish at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier this past season.
Coach Nichols on Reiter: "Taylor is yet another outstanding young player with significant size and quickness," Nichols said. "She is very good off one leg and her blocking IQ is well beyond her years. She has shown great progress training with head coach and club director, Molly Stark, and has played and won at the highest levels of 18-open. Taylor sees the court, and the opposing block, extremely well and has a quick and powerful swing, which should make her a potent threat in the CAA."
The Huskies graduated seven seniors this spring, but return nine letterwinners in addition to the five newcomers joining the fold. Northeastern won 19 games in 2013, its sixth season with 19 wins or more since joining the CAA in 2005.
