BOSTON - The Northeastern field hockey team will round out its three-game road trip when it heads to the Granite State to face Dartmouth and New Hampshire this weekend. 

The Huskies will begin play against Dartmouth on Friday, September 11 at 3 p.m. and will finish out the weekend on Sunday, September 13 at 2 p.m. at UNH.


SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth began its season last weekend and will play six of its first seven games at home, including this weekend's game against the Huskies.
 
The Big Green welcome six new faces to the 2015 squad to join top returners in Julia Donald (4g, 2a) and Brooke Van Valkenburg (3g, 3a). Paige Duffy will look to lead in goal for Dartmouth.
 
THIS SEASON:
Dartmouth is currently 1-1 on the season falling to UMass-Lowell in overtime in its season opener, but bounced back against New Hampshire on Sunday with a 4-2 win.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:
The Huskies hold an 11-2 record over the Big Green in a series that dates back to 1982. 
 
The Huskies have won their last eight games against Dartmouth, with their last loss coming in 1987 on the road.
 
Northeastern is 5-1 all time in Hanover, N.H.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST THE BIG GREEN:
Last season against Dartmouth, the Huskies shut out the Big Green 2-0 thanks to goals by the Dunn sisters.
 
Kelly and Marisa Dunn each tallied a goal in the win as Northeastern outshot Dartmouth 14-3. Becky Garner registered her first (of five) shutout of the season, and fourth of her career.
 

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
New Hampshire, who has reached the America East championship game the last five seasons and captured four-straight regular season crowns (2010-13) return eight starters and 15 letterwinners.
 
The Wildcats will be led by All-Conference honoree Meg Flatley, who entered the season just two points shy of the 100-point milestone.
 
THIS SEASON:
New Hampshire is off to a 1-2 start to the 2015 season, playing just one game last weekend against Granite State rival Dartmouth, a 4-2 loss for the Wildcats.
 
The Wildcats began the year off against two ranked teams in No. 20 BU (L, 3-4) and No. 18 UMass (W, 4-3), both games coming on the campus of Boston University.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:
The Huskies hold a 25-18-1 record over UNH as the two teams have met at least one time in every season since Northeastern's inaugural season in 1980.
 
UNH won four-consecutive gamesfrom 2010-13, but the Huskies bounced back with a 3-2 win last season.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST THE WILDCATS:
Thanks to a late goal by Kate Carlson with 2:17 left in the game off of a penalty corner.
 
The Huskies extended their winning streak to three games with the victory.


LAST TIME OUT
Northeastern picked up its first win of the season at Providence on Sunday, Sept. 6, a 2-1 victory over Providence. After facing off against three nationally ranked teams to being the 2015 season, NU defeated Providence, on the road, for the fourth-consecutive win over the Friars.
 
Also last week, Northeastern fell in a tough 2-1 overtime loss to No. 18 UMass on Thursday night. The Huskies evened things up in the second half thanks to Kristin Abreu's first career goal, but less than four minutes into the overtime period, the Minutewomen struck to earn the win.
 

NU VS. THE GRANITE STATE
Northeastern have faced off against four colleges located in the Granite State during its 35 seasons. The Huskies hold a 38-20-3 all-time record (.648) against the likes of Dartmouth, Keene State, UNH  and Plymouth State.

THE HUSKIES IN SEPTEMBER
Through 36 seasons, Northeastern has a 167-99-4 (.626) all-time record during the month of September.
 
The Huskies have notched 142 of those wins under the direction of Murtagh (142-82-3, .632) and an 85-45 record since 2000 (.654) including two seasons where the Huskies went undefeated.
 
Last season (2014) Northeastern won eight consecutive games during the month of September en route to an 11-game win streak. The Huskies also went undefeated during the ninth month during the 2005 season (9 games) where they successfully completed a 12-game win streak. 

 

LAST TIME OUT
Northeastern is coming off of a tough 2-1 overtime loss to No. 18 UMass on Thursday night. The Huskies evened things up in the second half thanks to Kristin Abreu's first career goal, but less than four minutes into the overtime period, the Minutewomen struck to earn the win.
 
The game marked the third for the Huskies against a nationally ranked opponent to begin the season.
 

STARTING IT OFF TOUGH
For the fourth consecutive season, the Huskies faced a ranked opponent in their opening weekend and for the second straight season it began against the nation's No. 1 team.

2012 - No. 23 Louisville, No. 20 Northwestern
 
The Huskies began the season against three nationally ranked teams taking on No. 18 UMass in their home opener Sept. 3.
 

TO BE THE BEST...
...You have to face the best. This season Northeastern will go up against six teams ranked in the NFHCA preseason Top-20. Three of those will come in the Huskies first three games against No. 1 UConn, No. 10 Northwestern, and No. 18 UMass.
 

EMBARKING ON 2015
The Huskies embarked on their 36th season Saturday Aug. 29, when they faced off with the preseason No. 1 team UConn at Lakeside Field on the campus of Northwestern University.
 
Northeastern is once again be led by Cheryl Murtagh, who is in her 28th season at the helm of the Northeastern field hockey program. Murtagh has racked up 370 career wins during her time at Northeastern, including 125 in conference play.

 

LOOKING BACK AT 2014
Highlighted by 14 wins, a regular-season Colonial Athletic Assocation title, and their fifth straight CAA tournament appearance, the 2014 season was one for the history books.
 
From Sept. 7 to Oct. 19 – a stretch of 42 days – Northeastern won 11 consecutive games, the fourth longest streak in program history.
 
Three Huskies – Emma Lamison, Natalie Stewart and Becky Garner – earned All-CAA First Team honors, while Kelly Dunn and Caroline Judge received second team notoriety. Lamison also garnered  NFHCA All-America Second Team recognition, while Coach Murtagh was tabbed the conference's Co-Coach of the Year for her efforts during the season.
 

NEW FACES IN THE CROWD
Northeastern welcomes 11 new faces to the squad this season. The 2015 recruiting class represents three countries and five states and will add some depth to a roster already stacked with two returning All-CAA First Team members.

NORTHEASTERN PICKED THIRD
For the second straight season, the Northeastern field hockey team has been picked to finish third in the Colonial Athletic Association preseason poll.
 
The Huskies collected 25 points, including one first place vote from the conference's head coaches.
