Post-game Interview
BROOKLINE, Mass. – Dialing up 13 shot attempts and producing six shots on goal, the Northeastern men's soccer team saluted the four members of its 2016 senior class with a convincing, 1-0 victory against UNCW on Saturday night at Parsons Field.
Â
Gaku Lange provided the match-winning goal for Northeastern (6-9-0, 3-4-0 CAA) during the eighth minute of the first half, polishing off a great effort by
Daniel Arvidsson that bounced off the crossbar.
Jonathan Thuresson made three saves and helped the Huskies withstand 16 overall shots by the Seahawks, earning his fifth clean sheet of the season and third during his last five outings.
Â
With the victory, NU leapfrogged UNCW (7-4-2, 2-1-2 CAA) to assume sole possession of fourth place in the CAA table by one point, despite the Seahawks having two more conference matches to play (three) than the Huskies (one).
Â
Khori Bennett led Northeastern with five shots, sending three on goal, while Lange powered two shots in addition to his eighth-minute goal.
Daniel Arvidsson (two shots),
Martin Nygaard,
Ackim Mpofu, and
Kevin Carvalho each contributed to the Huskies' shot total by the end of the match.
Â
Prior to kickoff, NU honored the four members of its senior class:
Harrison Balder,
Christian McKenna,
Khesanio Hall, and vice captain
Marc Greenblatt.
