Huskies come from behind for a five set stunner

Williamsburg, Va. – Northeastern volleyball posted a massive come from behind victory at William and Mary on Saturday evening. Behind 0-2, the Huskies pulled together and won three sets straight with season high stats to boot. Northeastern (18-6, 8-2 CAA) tallied seven season highs in the five set stunner. William and Mary drops to 8-15 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
 
As a team, the Huskies tabbed new season highs in kills, assists and points, snapping records from late August and early September. Additionally, Jamie Bredahl and Kristen Walding recorded new season highs in kills, points and assists. Bredahl led the team with 20 kills and 23 points while Walding contributed 56 assists. Caterina Rosander tied the season high in blocks and racked up 15 kills with zero errors for a .652 hitting percentage. Hannah Fry registered her first double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs. Bredahl and Walding upped their double-double counts to 10 and six respectively.
 
William and Mary was anything but short on the offense. Four players hit double digit kills with Sydney Biniak leading with 16. The Tribe led in blocks with 14 total for the team and recorded 88 digs against the Husky attack.
 
Set One Recap (25-22 William and Mary)
The Huskies got on the scoreboard first, and the teams went point for point before William and Mary took a 6-3 lead.
The Tribe continued the pressure, upping their lead to 12-5.
With Bredahl behind the serve, the Huskies chipped back to cut the deficit to three at 13-10.
William and Mary took another five-point lead but kills from Walding and Bredahl put Northeastern within one. (19-20)
Consecutive kills from the Tribe gave them a 1-0 advantage in the match.
 
Set Two Recap (25-22 William and Mary)
William and Mary jumped out again with a 7-2 lead with a .600 hitting percentage.
Northeastern found a niche and cut the lead to one at 8-7.
The Huskies found momentum with kills from Bredahl and Underdown to tie the score at 14.
The Huskies slowly crept up to just a two-point deficit, (23-21).
William and Mary secured the final to points to take the set 25-22.
 
Set Three Recap (25-21 Northeastern)
William and Mary got another 5-2 head start.
Northeastern trailed 12-8 but a string of Tribe errors tied the score at 12.
Northeastern held a lead through 16-14 but the Tribe would not go down easily, tying it up again at 16.
The Huskies rallied to force set four with a final set score of 25-21
 
Set Four Recap (25-14 Northeastern)
Northeastern took a 3-1 lead right out of the gate.
The Huskies ripped a few kills to make it 7-1, depleting William and Mary's timeouts for the set.
Northeastern held nothing back on a 13-1 run.
William and Mary notched a few points but continued to trail at 20-10.
Walding tapped one over to bring the Huskies back to life and tie the match 2-2.
 
Set Five Recap (17-15 Northeastern)
William and Mary posted a 4-2 lead early on.
A few errors put the Huskies back 6-2, forcing an NU timeout.
The Tribe led 8-5 at the bench switch point.
William and Mary gained another slight lead but the Huskies fought back to make it 12-11 in favor of the Tribe.
A William and Mary kill forces the set to extra points but the Huskies played tough and a monster kill from Jamie Bredahl completed the come from behind win for Northeastern
 
Looking Ahead
The Huskies will face the Hofstra Pride for the second time this season on Wednesday, Oct. 26 in Hempstead, N.Y.
