NEWARK, Del. – In its final road game of the regular season, the Northeastern field hockey team fell 3-0 to ninth-ranked Delaware Friday night.

For the first time in 2016, the Huskies (7-10, 1-4 CAA) were unable to get on the board as the Blue Hens (16-2, 5-0) earned their fifth straight victory over Northeastern. With the win, Delaware extends its win-streak to 12 games.

Becky Garner made three saves on the night for Northeastern and is just four saves away from moving into second place on the Northeastern all-time saves list. She currently has 425 career saves. Alyssa Carlson finished the night with two defensive saves while Jessica Unger had a defensive save.

Delaware outshot the Huskies 14-5 on the night, though all five of Northeastern's shots were on goal. Both Laura MacLachlan and June Curry-Lindahl led the Huskies with two shots taken on goal.

Delaware got on top first in the 21st minute of action when Michaela Scanlon tallied just her second goal of the season tipping in a long pass up the left side to give the Blue Hens a 1-0 lead midway through the first half.

The Blue Hens added to their lead early on in the second half when Greta Nauck tallied her 22nd goal of the season in the 39th minute of action to boost the score to 2-0. Nauck's goal came straight off of Delaware's second penalty corner of the game.

The Huskies had their best chance of the game in the 51st minute when the Huskies drew back-to-back penalty corners and Jamie Bartucca and Laura MacLachlan combined for three shots on goal in the span of two minutes, but they were unable to get on the board.

A couple of minutes later, Delaware made it a 3-0 game when Esmee Peet recorded her sixth goal of the season to give the Blue Hens a three-goal lead and the eventual win.

The Huskies round out the regular season on Sunday when they host Towson on Senior Day at Dedham Field. The match will begin at 2 p.m. and Northeastern's five seniors will be honored prior to the game.
