BOSTON – The Northeastern field hockey team continues its four-game road swing to open the 2016 season at Boston University and Vermont this weekend.

The Huskies head across town on Friday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. and travel up to UVM Sunday, Sept. 4 for a 2 p.m. meeting

Boston University is ranked No. 17 in the NFHCA Preseason Poll and will represent the Huskies first ranked opponent of the season.

Vermont will be the third of the five America East conference teams that the Huskies will face this season. The two teams will face each other for the first time in over 10 years as former Northeastern assistant coach Kate Pfeifer is now at the helm for the Catamounts.

LAST TIME OUT...

• The Huskies started their 2016 campaign off with a couple of wins on the West Coast, taking down UC Davis (3-0) in the season opener, followed by a 3-2 overtime, comeback victory over Cal to wrap up the weekend
• Natalie Stewart tallied the game-winner in each of the games for the Huskies
• Northeastern easily took down UC Davis in the season opener, Northeastern's first season opening win since the 2013 season
• On Sunday, the Huskies jumped on top first once again, though Cal used two second half goals to gain a lead. With no time on the clock and a penalty corner situation to tie the game, Laura MacLachlan capitalized to send the game to overtime where Natalie Stewart scored at the 80:36 mark off of a penalty corner for the victory

NORTHEASTERN VS.

#17 BOSTON UNIVERSITY

• Like the Huskies, BU started off its season with two wins last weekend defeating #16 Northwestern 2-1, followed by a 4-3 victory against New Hampshire at the Wildcat Classic in Durham

• The two teams have alternated victories in the previous three season
• Last season Northeastern battled No. 17 BU to its limit falling in overtime on Alumni Day. Northeastern tied the game up with back-to-back goals in a six-minute span, but BU used a man-advantage in OT to tally the gamewinner.

VERMONT

• Vermont began the season with a couple of wins at home over Central Michigan (2-1) and La Salle (3-2 OT)
• NU and Vermont have met 24 times, with the Huskies winning all 24 meetings
• The two teams last met in the 2004 season, the last year the Huskies were in the America East conference, a 10-0 victory for Northeastern on Sweeney Field
• During that game, Mari Creatini set the NU all-time record for points with a second-half goal marking 154 for her career, eclipsing the record of 153 points originally set by Keri Bettenhauser (1994-97)
• UVM head coach Kate Pfeifer spent seven seasons on the sidelines for Northeastern (2007-13) as an assistant/associate head coach.

GARNER-ING RECORDS
