WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Northeastern Field Hockey team fell 3-1 to 19
th ranked William & Mary on Sunday afternoon. The Tribe got out to a fast 2-0 start in the first nine minutes and held on for the victory at Busch Field.

The Huskies (6-5, 1-1 CAA) got on the board in the 42
nd minute of play thanks to
Jamie Bartucca's 11
th goal of the season. The goal set a new career best for Bartucca's in a single season, besting her 10 goals registered last year. The 11 goals are also the most since Lindsey Bennett had 11 goals during the 2013 season.

William & Mary (8-4, 2-0) put the first goal on the board just over a minute into the game adding a second in the ninth minute of play forcing the Huskies to make a goalie change.
Julia Ennis entered the game in relief and made eight saves, allowing just one goal in just under 62 minutes of action.

For the Tribe, Woodard Hooper tallied a pair of goals on the day in the win while Morgan Connor made eight saves between the pipes with a pair of Tribe defensemen making another couple saves on the afternoon.

Northeastern outshot William & Mary 20-16, but the Tribe edged the Huskies 12-11 in shots coming on goal. The Huskies also drew eight penalty corners to William & Mary's two on the day.

GOAL DESCRIPTIONS

FIRST HALF
William & Mary 1-0: Christie van de Kamp got the Tribe on the board just one minute and one second into action when she collected a pass from Cata Days who drove toward the goal and sent it back to van de Kamp who shot it from the elbow and into the goal.

William & Mary 2-0: In the ninth minute of play, the Tribe made it a 2-0 game when Hooper drove all the way from the midfield, through some defenders and into the front of the goal where she sent a shot to the far corner.

After the two fast goals, Northeastern switched goalies sending
Julia Ennis into the game in relief where she held the Tribe scoreless for the remainder of the half.

SECOND HALF
Northeastern 2-1: Bartucca netted her 11
th goal of the season when she got the Huskies on the board in the 42
nd minute cutting the Tribe's lead in half. Bartucca was set up in front of the goal, corralled a pass from
Kellie Stigas, and tipped it in to the near post for the score.

William & Mary 3-1: The Tribe added an insurance goal late in the second half when Hooper netted her second goal of the game off of a pass from Jenny McCann who came along the baseline, sent a pass into a group in front of the goal and Hooper got a stick on the ball, sending it in for the score.

The Huskies will host a pair of games next weekend at Dedham Field first when they keep CAA play going hosting Hofstra on Friday night at 6 p.m. before a rare Monday night showdown with crosstown rival Boston University at 6 p.m.
